This is part one of a two part discussion that provides an overview of e-commerce from the lens of how it impacts your business.

Too often, e-commerce is seen as only a website, only a sales channel, or treated as an afterthought. This session focuses on the foundations of e-commerce by providing an overview of the core pillars of a successful e-commerce business, including: marketing and customer acquisition; shipping, inventory and fulfillment; returns and customer service; revenue collection and payment methods; and the financial pros and cons of different sales channels.

Chris Wilson is an accomplished business and e-commerce leader with experience at both startups and established companies. Chris received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St Louis and his MBA from the University of TN, Chattanooga. Chris began his career while in college interning at Smart Furniture. After five successful years in marketing and product roles at Smart Furniture, he joined two e-commerce startups, helping take both through product launch and initial scaling efforts before returning to Smart Furniture as CEO. Throughout his career he has focused on the intersection of product development, sales/marketing, and operations with a keen eye towards company growth and profitability. He is a proven leader who has shown he can build, scale, and drive efficiencies, all with an eye towards strong financial performance.
