Overview: This class is designed to provide three specific outcomes: (1)- provide small and medium-sized businesses with basic skills to execute basic public relations efforts. We have the successful experience and background to provide public relations assistance to large organizations as well. (2)- gain knowledge and use of an ample supply of FREE (some at very low cost) applications to enhance their public perceptions/efforts, and save them time and money (3)- address the specific public relations concerns of business-owners in the class and develop potential solutions HOUR--1 • Speaker introduction • Class participants introduction: name, business owned--or wanting to star AND what public relations matter would you like help to resolve while in class • Press Releases: writing GOOD press releases, sample of "BAD" releases, samples of actual releases with media results • Where to send your releases • How to pitch a story to the media • Creating an event to attract media • Website content • Selected Social Media Use HOUR--2 Free Apps • Website creation • Newsletter creation • Email • Flyers • Video • Workload/Office Efficiency apps HOUR--3 • From the public relations concerns disclosed during participant introductions we will select and resolve as many that can be accommodated during the time period. Past experience has demonstrated that many small business owners want specific solutions to the public relations issues they deal with in their businesses.
