The 12 countries of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) account for 40 percent of global GDP and more than 800 million consumers. The TPP includes top markets such as Canada, Mexico and Japan; fast growing Asian markets such as Malaysia and Vietnam; and important Latin American markets such as Peru and Chile. In 2015, TPP countries accounted for 45 percent of all U.S. exports. For U.S. companies, especially small and medium-sized companies, the agreement offers great potential for increasing global sales in today’s increasingly competitive global economy. In 2014, $18.3 billion of Tennessee’s exports went to TPP countries, accounting for 56 percent of the Tennessee’s total export sales.
