Topic: Disaster Mitigation

The Healthy Business Certification course introduces employees to the basic practices of identifying, reducing, eliminating and reporting hazards associated with their work. This 3-hour training is designed for any business that wants to acquire knowledge on workplace health and pandemic response. At the completion of this course and after submission of your business' procedures, a Healthy Business Certification will be issued by the certification provider. Attendance throughout entire session is required. Participants will become familiar with the standards and regulations that OSHA, the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have set in place to make sure all employees function in a healthy work environment. * Understand how to develop a step-by-step Healthy Workplace Environment Guide * Learn best cleaning and disinfection procedures * Review on-site health screening procedures * Determine Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements * Discuss social distancing strategies * Understand protocols for isolating employees who become ill at work The training is for essential and non-essential businesses. Certification is good for one year and must be renewed annually. If you became a Certified HBC in 2020, you are welcome to recertify. Recertification is very important as both federal and individual states are issuing more specific guidelines. While the training that you participated in last year meets or exceeds these guidelines, it is important to keep up with the latest information and best practices. It is clear that Infectious Disease Prevention will become a required business plan even post COVID-19. To recertify, a business will need to complete the 3-hour training, review and update, if necessary, and resubmit their Infectious Disease plan. This is a great way to ensure that your plan is reviewed annually, is up-to-date with all the required components and audit your business practices against your plan "do as you say you do." It is also an opportunity to send another person from your company in order to grow your team's knowledge of infectious disease prevention. If you are the contact, you are welcome to attend again this year as there are updates throughout the curriculum. Accreditations: CEU 0.3; SHRM 3.0; HRCI 3.0 This training (valued at $299) along with a one-year membership in the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry ($500+ value) will be offered to those businesses granted a scholarship through the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Cleveland State Community College. This opportunity is for businesses with 500 or fewer employees. Priority consideration will be given to these types of businesses: restaurant and food industry; hotel/motel; health care providers; convenience stores; gyms; manufacturing facilities. There will be a limited number of scholarships offered; applicants must be or become a client of the TSBDC. Please contact Jennie DeCook, jdecook@tsbdc.org, for information.
