EMV Chip Card Technology and Your Small Business

Jul

2015
Tue 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM

The Small Business Administration is partnering with credit care services provider Square and the Tennessee Small Business Development Center to host an outreach event for small business owners on the new EMV Chip Card. EMV stands for Europay, MasterCard and Visa. In an effort to reduce fraud, EMV Chips are becoming the standard for integrated circuit cards (IC cards or "chip cards"), IC card capable point-of-sale terminals, and automated teller machines. Don’t miss this important event that will highlight how small business owners will need to prepare for this new credit card technology as liability will shift from credit card issuers to merchants in certain instances of fraud effective October 1, 2015. This session will enable small business owners to understand what this transition means for you, your business, and your customers. For merchants and financial institutions, the switch to EMV means adding new in-store technology and internal processing systems and complying with new liability rules.
